Fine art photographer Caroline True presents In an English Country Garden, a series of limited-edition still life photographs of flowers grown in the artists garden. How many kinds of sweet flowers grow in an English country garden? Lyrics from the opening line of the traditional folksy song English Country Garden embodies the authentic inspiration of fine art photographer Caroline True.

Tucked away in a picturesque village in Somerset, a county in the South West of England, and set within the stone-walled garden of an Elizabethan era cottage—resides the country garden home of True. An idyllic setting, amidst a revelation of flowers and fauna, while abundant with colors and creatures alike that pose the purpose of existence—for beauty, to be captured in the eye of the beholder.

The flowers are lovingly grown and picked from True’s garden and obsessively adored. The relationship of gardener and photographer is evident in each photograph—so intimate, up close and personal that you can almost smell the sweet scent of each flower muddled with the aroma of fresh-cut grass from her garden.

True nods towards a traditional appreciation of still life photography, which also depicts a contemporary composition. A deep saturated black backdrop stages the vibrancy of colorful petals, juxtaposed with the revealing stark black and white photographs that almost glow with the warmth of a sunny summer in England. This curated series of fine art photography, in limited-edition prints, illustrates a still life story with delicate precision and emotional affinity.

Caroline True spent 30-years in the music business, as a commissioner of music videos at Virgin Records in the 80’s, working creatively alongside artists including The Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Maria Carey, Lenny Kravitz, David Bowie and George Michael.  Read more about Caroline True.
